SATURDAY: Hardee County’s “Tire Amnesty Day” [En Español]

From the Hardee County Board of County Commissioners:

Hardee County BOCC and Hardee County Mosquito Control, in collaboration with the Hardee County Department of Health, are hosting Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, from 8 AM until 12:00 PM, at the Hardee County Landfill, 685 Airport Road in Wauchula.

During this time, the county is offering free disposal of up to 25 old tires per resident without state registration. A photo ID, used as proof of residency, is required.

“Just one tire improperly stored in a backyard can become a breeding ground for thousands of mosquitoes, which can carry diseases like Zika, West Nile and Dengue Fever. During Tire Amnesty Day at the Hardee County Landfill, residents can dispose of old tires for free, helping to keep the community safe and protect our environment.”
